Monitoring and Test Equipment for Data Centres
Data centres run on tight margins for temperature, humidity, airflow and power. Hinco Instruments supplies the sensors that monitor the white space and the test equipment that keeps power and cooling plant healthy, and we calibrate them in our Canning Vale laboratory or on site.
We have supported Western Australian industry for 70 years and serve customers across Australia from our Perth, WA base.

Calibration, service and repair
Sensors drift, and a monitoring system is only as good as the readings it logs.
Environmental monitoring calibration
Humidity and temperature transmitters and probes, including Vaisala.
NATA-accredited temperature calibration
Temperature probes and indicators, calibrated in our NATA-accredited laboratory.
Electrical test equipment calibration
Multimeters, clamp meters, insulation testers, power analysers and battery testers.
On-site and field calibration
Installed sensors checked where they are mounted, so the data hall keeps its monitoring.
Why measurement matters in a data centre
Cooling is one of the biggest running costs in a data centre. Accurate temperature and humidity readings let you run closer to the top of the allowable range without putting equipment at risk. A sensor that reads a degree or two low can mean cooling harder than you need to, every hour of the year.
Power is the other side. Power quality problems, ageing UPS batteries and hot electrical connections are among the most common causes of unplanned outages, and all of them show up in measurements well before they cause a failure.
If your site has a battery room, see our page on hydrogen monitoring for battery energy storage systems.
Common questions from data centre teams
What temperature should a data hall run at?
Most operators work to the ASHRAE thermal guidelines, which recommend 18 to 27 °C at the server inlet, with humidity limits set by dew point. Check your equipment manufacturer’s limits and any customer agreements.
How often should temperature and humidity sensors be calibrated?
Twelve months suits most sites. Humidity sensors tend to drift faster than temperature sensors, so an annual check is worth keeping to. See environmental monitoring calibration.
Can wireless loggers replace wired sensors?
Wireless loggers are ideal for rack-level readings, hot spot surveys and temporary monitoring. For critical control points, wired transmitters feeding your BMS are still the usual choice.
Good to know
Fits your existing system
Tell us what your BMS or DCIM system accepts, whether that is analogue outputs, Modbus or BACnet, and we will match the instruments to it.
Certificates and reminders
Every calibration comes with a certificate showing as-found and as-left readings. Tell us your due dates and we will remind you when instruments fall due.
Other industries we serve
We also work with mining, oil and gas, water utilities and treatment, food and beverage, agriculture, universities and laboratories and government, plus battery energy storage systems. See all industries, or our full range of calibration and repair services.
