Gas Detector Calibration
Hinco Instruments calibrates portable and fixed gas detectors for mining, oil and gas, water utilities, construction and manufacturing. Personal single-gas and multi-gas monitors are calibrated in our Canning Vale workshop, and fixed gas detection systems can be calibrated on site. We serve customers across Australia from our Perth, WA base.
Detectors are calibrated with certified calibration gas, and we calibrate the brands we sell, such as Crowcon, as well as MSA, Dräger, Honeywell and many others.

What we calibrate
Portable monitors come into our workshop. Fixed systems are calibrated where they are installed.
Single-gas detectors
Personal monitors for a single hazard such as H2S, CO or O2, worn by operators and contractors.
Multi-gas detectors
Four and five-gas personal and confined-space monitors, pumped or diffusion, such as the Crowcon Gas-Pro.
Fixed gas detectors
Fixed-point flammable, toxic and oxygen detectors in plant rooms, pump stations and process areas, calibrated on site.
Gas leak detection systems
Refrigerant, ammonia and other leak detection systems, checked against certified gas to confirm alarm set points.
Bump test or calibration?
They are different checks, and you need both. A bump test briefly exposes the detector to a known gas to prove the sensors respond and the alarms go off. It is a quick functional check, and most manufacturers recommend one before each day’s use.
A calibration adjusts each sensor against a certified gas concentration so the reading on the display is correct, not just responsive. Most manufacturers specify a full calibration at least every six months, and more often where detectors work in harsh conditions or fail a bump test. Always follow your detector’s manual and your site procedure.
If you run your own bump tests, we supply calibration gas and bump test and calibration stations.
Traceable calibration, and what that means
Gas detector calibration at Hinco is traceable calibration: detectors are set against certified calibration gas, and the gas certificates are recorded with your calibration results.

On site or in the workshop
Send portable detectors to our Canning Vale workshop, or ask about a site visit for fixed systems and larger fleets.
Tell us your due dates and we will remind you when detectors fall due, so calibration is scheduled rather than discovered during an audit.
Certificates and repairs
Every calibration is issued with a certificate recording the as-found and as-left readings and the calibration gas used.
Where a detector fails calibration, for example because a sensor has reached the end of its life, we will tell you what is wrong and what a repair would involve before doing the work.
