The Euromag MUT2300 with MC406 converter, supplied by Hinco Instruments in Perth, Western Australia, is a battery-powered electromagnetic flow meter built for potable water distribution, district metering, custody-transfer billing and remote sites without mains power. Its specially profiled measuring tube accelerates the flow to amplify the signal at the electrodes, delivering stable, repeatable readings across an exceptionally wide flow range — down to the very low overnight flows that are critical for leak detection.
Battery Powered — Up to 10 Years in the Field
The MC406 is a high-efficiency battery-powered converter running on a lithium 2 × D-cell pack with a service life of up to 10 years (12/24 Vdc supply optional). This makes the MUT2300-MC406 ideal for buried chambers, remote DMAs and abstraction points where running mains power is impractical. On-board datalogging stores up to 100,000 lines of data in EEPROM, and an optional GSM/GPRS module sends readings automatically via SMS, email or the euromagdata.com portal.
MID / OIML R49 Custody Transfer
Supplied as the MC406M, the meter is type-approved to OIML R49 / MID EN ISO 4064, Class 1 & 2, for legal-for-trade water measurement — making it well suited to billing and fiscal metering. It reads flow velocities down to 0.015 m/s within Class 1 accuracy, with the U0-D0 zero straight-run capability certified under the same approval.
Zero Straight-Run Installation (U0-D0)
The cone-shaped internal profile of the MUT2300 optimises the flow so the meter can be installed almost anywhere — directly after bends, valves or reducers — with no upstream or downstream straight pipe runs, while maintaining a negligible pressure drop (below 0.10 bar for DN≤80).
Robust Construction for Buried and Flooded Sites
The fully welded, internally potted sensor body carries an IP68 rating for permanent submersion to 1.5 m, making it ideal for pit, buried and flooded-area installations. The AISI 304 flow tube, AISI 316L electrodes and hard-rubber Ebonite lining suit potable water, wastewater and fluids carrying suspended solids. Standard empty-pipe detection, bi-directional measurement and an on-site Field Verificator round out a genuinely maintenance-free instrument.
Outputs, Display and Accuracy
The MC406 provides two galvanically isolated passive pulse outputs (one programmable as an alarm), with optional 4–20 mA loop-powered and RS-485 Modbus outputs, plus an integrated IrCOM interface (Bluetooth optional). An LCD display and four push buttons give full local access. Each sensor is wet-calibrated to an accuracy of 0.2% ± 2 mm/s, and the unit is available in DN50–DN300 with EN 1092-1 PN10/16, ANSI 150 and Australian AS 2129 / AS 4087 flange options.
