Euromag MUT2200-MC406 Electromagnetic Flow Meter Overview
The Euromag MUT2200 with MC406 converter, supplied by Hinco Instruments in Perth, Western Australia, is a battery-powered electromagnetic flow meter for potable water distribution, district metering, custody-transfer billing and process measurement. Its wide measuring range and low-flow sensitivity (from 0.015 m/s, Class 1) make it a maintenance-free choice for water networks, irrigation and industrial sites, available in compact or remote-mounted versions.
Battery Powered — Up to 10 Years in the Field
The MC406 runs on a lithium 2 × D-cell pack with a service life of up to 10 years (12–24 Vdc optional), making the MUT2200-MC406 ideal for buried chambers, remote DMAs and abstraction points without mains power. On-board datalogging stores up to 100,000 lines in EEPROM, and an optional GSM/GPRS module sends readings automatically via SMS, email or the euromagdata.com portal — also viewable through the Mag-Net smartphone app.
MID / OIML R49 Custody Transfer
The meter is type-approved to OIML R49 / MID EN ISO 4064, Class 1, for legal-for-trade water measurement, suiting billing and fiscal metering. It reads flow velocities from 0.015 m/s up to 10 m/s within Class 1 accuracy, and can be supplied with pressure and temperature modules to report flow, pressure and temperature together.
Wide Size Range and Materials
The MUT2200 covers a far broader range of line sizes than compact meters — full-bore versions from DN15 up to DN600, with insertion sensors for larger pipes. The AISI 304 flow tube (AISI 316 optional), Hastelloy C electrodes (Hastelloy B, Titanium, Tantalum, Platinum optional) and a choice of PTFE (−40 to +130 °C, up to +180 °C on request) or Ebonite (−40 to +80 °C) lining let the meter be matched to potable water, wastewater and aggressive process liquids, muds and concretes.
Robust Construction for Buried and Flooded Sites
The fully welded, internally potted sensor body carries an IP68 rating for continuous immersion to 1.5 m, ideal for pit, buried and flooded-area installations. Standard empty-pipe detection (electrode standard on DN65 and above), bi-directional measurement, advanced self-diagnostics and an on-site Field Verificator make it a genuinely maintenance-free instrument. Flange options include EN 1092-1, ANSI 150/300, DIN 2501, BS 4504, and Australian AS 2129 / AS 4087.
Outputs and Local Display
The MC406 provides two galvanically isolated passive pulse outputs, with optional 4–20 mA, RS-485 Modbus, frequency and HART outputs, plus an integrated IrCOM interface (Bluetooth optional). An LCD display and four push buttons give full local access to flow, totalisers and diagnostics. Each sensor is wet-calibrated to an accuracy of 0.2% ± 2 mm/s (0.2% ± 1 mm/s on request).
