The Hycontrol Microwave Blocked Chute Detection System (MWS) provides a simple, non-contact and non-intrusive way to detect blockages on dry powder and granular materials. A low-power microwave transmitter and receiver are mounted on opposite sides of a chute or transfer point; while material flows freely the microwave beam passes between them, and when the chute blocks or backs up the interrupted signal triggers an alarm output.
Because the sensing heads sit outside the product flow, there is nothing protruding into the chute to be abraded, coated or damaged by heavy or aggressive materials, making the system virtually maintenance-free even in harsh, dusty conditions. The MWS is well suited to transfer chutes, downpipes and conveyor transfer points across cement, lime, mineral, grain, flour, feed, coal and ore handling plant. By detecting blockages the moment they occur, it helps prevent chute overflow, spillage and unplanned downtime, and integrates readily into existing plant control and alarm systems.
