The Define Instruments G3 RIO remote I/O device is a flexible, high-performance expansion solution designed to connect field sensors directly to PLC and SCADA systems.
Firstly, the base unit includes two 4–20 mA analogue inputs and four digital inputs. In addition, it can be expanded to support up to 16 universal inputs and 32 digital inputs. This makes it suitable for process signals such as thermocouples, RTDs, current, and voltage measurements.
Furthermore, built-in galvanic isolation protects against electrical noise and ground loops. As a result, sensors can be connected directly without the need for external transmitters.
For communication, the G3 RIO supports Ethernet and RS-485 Modbus. Optionally, Wi-Fi is available for wireless networking applications.
Finally, configuration is quick using Define WorkBench software via the Bridge Key. The G3 RIO scales easily and integrates with PLCs, RTUs, and SCADA platforms.
