The Kestrel 5700 with Hornady 4DOF combines the Kestrel 5700’s full environmental measurement capability with Hornady’s proprietary 4 Degrees of Freedom (4DOF) ballistic engine. Unlike traditional G1/G7 models that approximate bullet flight, Hornady’s 4DOF calculator models the actual aerodynamic behaviour of each specific Hornady projectile — accounting for pitch, yaw, spin, and drag — resulting in more accurate holdover and windage solutions at extended ranges.
The 4DOF engine uses Hornady’s own projectile-specific data, so solutions are tailored to the actual bullet rather than a generalised drag model. This is particularly valuable at ranges beyond 600 metres where traditional approximations diverge from real bullet behaviour. LiNK Bluetooth enables wireless connectivity to compatible devices. Available from Hinco, Perth’s authorised Kestrel distributor.
