The HIOKI IR5051 insulation tester is engineered for the insulation testing of high-voltage electrical assets including large motors, generators, power cables, transformers, and switchgear. With selectable test voltages of 500 V, 1,000 V, 2,000 V, and 5,000 V DC, it covers the full range of HV insulation test requirements to AS/NZS and IEC standards.
The IR5051 automatically calculates the Polarisation Index (PI) and Dielectric Absorption Ratio (DAR) — two key indicators of insulation condition that go beyond a simple spot resistance reading and reveal whether insulation is contaminated, deteriorating, or moisture-affected. An auto-discharge function safely dissipates stored charge after testing, which is an important safety requirement when testing high-capacitance assets.
